So I have pictures of the cast getting to know each other. Simone just came back from New Zealand the day of the shoot, so I am pretty sure she was tired, but she was a trooper. I am very proud of her. It's good to have good and supportive friends. I bonded with Clarissa and Simone right from the start and besides working with them, I consider them my friends. I see us hanging out even when there is not a camera involved. The whole cast is what this series is about, whether it has substance or not. I skimmed the topics with this show b/c I didn't want it to be too deep. In the future I will create shows and short films with darker subjects. For now, I just want to have fun. Simone brought me back a gift from New Zealand. I love it, when I get a nice place, I will put it up where people can see it. I'm not a big fan of dolls, and I hate teddy bears, but this gift is a collectors item, so it's great. I love anything that comes from outside of America. It makes it more a must have, because you can't get it here. We were waiting for our guy to come, so we fooled around, talked about life, love and relationships.
So last night was great. We had a great shoot. Everyone got to meet each other for the first time and the shoot didn't take long. I hope the end product is fine for the viewers. I kept laughing when I was filming. I tried to stop, but every time we filmed the last scene I would laugh behind the camera. I don't know if it was picked up. I'm not trying to win an Oscar yet, there is still time for that in the future. I enjoy working with the cast and can't wait for the next shoot. Everyone is sending each other emails, saying what a great time they had last night. That makes me feel good. I will put up pictures and the new video by tomorrow. The video is only about 3 minutes long or close...I thought it was going to be longer. It's fine. All the shows don't have to be the same length.
So I woke up in a bad mood today. I have to shoot the second episode of my show tonight. Even though the guy didn't like it yesterday and rejected it, I still like my show. The people who want to be a part of it like it also, so I'm cool. It doesn't take much to make me happy. My brother called it a men bashing show. I could see why he would think so from the first episode, but it's not. That is just girls talking on phones. We girls can be vicious when we talk on the phone, it means nothing. They don't spend the rest of the time talking and dogging men. To be quiet honest, the last seven episodes are about sex games. The final episode is when they talk about relationships again and show emotions. My show has nothing to do with the bashing of men. The first episode is just about a girl getting her heart broken and venting with her friends, who are sympathizing with her. At least most of them. Not all friends are understanding when you are hurt or heartbroken. Some feel that you are being emotional, especially when the guy is not interested or committed an offense. They think it's always easy to forget. It just shows that some people are just better at hiding their feelings more than others.
The character Madison wears her heart on her sleeve and is open about being hurt, while the character Hamako doesn't. Which makes it easier to hurt Hamako and the pain usually runs deeper. I could go on and on about this subject. My show is about relationships. So I think it's funny that my brother calls it a corny, male bashing show. Hopefully, the people who have seen the first episode would be interested in coming back for a few more before basing their decision on whether it's pro or anti men. The creator who rejected me yesterday even stated that he was interested in seeing a few more episodes. I didn't want to make each episode too long. I want people to come back for more. I think if the first show was longer...it would have been too long. Who knows.
As I work on this show, I am going to create other shows that might be longer. Maybe 7-10 minutes. I have a show called Fan Base. This is the first place I am releasing the name. It's going to be crazy. I mean crazy. When I was younger, I used to love the movie "Baby, baby birdie." It's going to be a Gothic, crazier take on that subject. I've only been in one fan club in my whole life. No need to go into details, it's an eye opening experience. Not one I want to go through again but one that gives me materials to write about. I don't know whether to write from a fan's point of view, the artist, the public or maybe all three. It's gonna be craaaaaaaazzzzzzzzzzyyyyyyyy...but in a good way. It might not come out until '09. It's going to be my baby. I gotta get it right. To research, I will watch "Bye, bye birdie." I might even make mine a musical, but I doubt it.
Note: Write musical in the future.
Within this week I am going to upload Matchmaker Cafe to different filmmakers websites. I don't know how well it's going to do, but I hope to one day get a following. As of right now, I've written 9 episodes. If it goes well, I will start working on the second season. I wrote the episodes in 2007. Maybe in 2008, I have a different view or ideas for each character. We will be shooting our second episode on Monday. Let's hope it takes less time to edit. We have a location at an actual Cafe in Brooklyn. It was great of the owner of Tiny Cup to give us permission to use her Cafe. That is what I love about NYC and Brooklyn. People are always willing to support and share, even if you were a stranger an hour ago. I think that is what makes NYers different from a lot of other States. The people might be look on as aloof, but we learn at a young age to share. So if people come from certain States and want to mingle with us; they better learn how to share real quick.
We live in a generation of "gimmes". Everyone wants to know what they can get out of it. They want to make quick money, just to spend the money and show off what they bought. It's all vanity. It's rare that you would find my generation doing charity work for free without thinking about the tax deductions. I promise myself that any charity work or donations I will make in the future, I will not claim taxes on them. It defeats the whole point of charity, don't you think? Give without expecting anything back, but the happiness that comes with giving freely.
So I was asked yesterday to film an event hosted by the Project Manager of Fonkoze. It was a great opportunity. Fonkoze is a micro finance non profit organization based in Haiti, that focus on poor women getting loans to create and support their businesses. After the event I was also asked to create a Youtube page for the Organization and upload the videos. They also want to make pod-cast videos of the event. They invited me to an event on Saturday as their guest. I might be filming some of their upcoming events. They are the third and final Organization I am willing to shoot free videos for. If I am approach by other Organizations, I am going to start charging. I do free videos for the two African Organizations I work for, but that is it. In all, there were 15 clips from last night that I will be uploading to their Youtube page.
I was able to finally upload the first episode from Matchmaker Cafe. Enjoy!!! Matchmaker Cafe
So I've finally found a program that might actually allow me to edit my work the way I want. I am test driving it today and if it works out, I will get the full version. Window Movie maker is good for editing work because it's easy but for some reason everytime I put my MPEG-2 clips in, it crashes. I've had a problem with this software but I'm hoping it's because I didn't have the right decoder. I installed the MPEG decoder today so I am hoping that I'm on the journey of finally editing my first project. I am spending all day today working on my project. I want to have everything finished by tomorrow.
INTRODUCING OFFICIAL CAST: Madison, Shena, Hamako and Agatha
